What do I need to get started?
You need a Windows computer, fast enough and with sufficient memory to run QuickBooks comfortably.
You also need to have the Intuit QuickBooks product you desire to use already installed, configured and licensed.
An Internet connection is also required. We recommend an always on connection that is sufficiently fast.
Do I require a merchant account to use Payment Collect?
Yes. A merchant account is required to process credit and debit cards.
I don’t have a merchant account, can you help me get one?
Yes. Payment Collect has been working with multiple merchant service providers over the years. We can assist you finding the right one for your needs.
How much can I save by switching away from Intuit?
While reading there is no exact formula, most businesses can realize savings between 25% to 50% of their current processing fees. But, your savings extend beyond that. With Intuit, you are required to update your software to the latest version every few years, costing businesses thousands of dollars in order to continue processing payments. By using Payment Collect, you can keep your current version for as long as you want.
Am I required to be PCI compliant?
Yes. The Payment Counsel Industry requires each business processing payments to be PCI compliant at all times. PCI compliance extends well beyond your computer and networks to include business practices, such as not writing down any card information or retaining the card verification code.
Using Payment Collect, your liability is substantially reduced due to our adoption of out-of-scope payment terminals. If your computer is ever infected with any virus, malware, spyware or ransomware, the card data is never compromised. This could save you thousands of dollars in liability in case of a breach.
Can Payment Collect help me reduce fraud?
Yes. By utilizing an out-of-scope payment terminal, no credit card data passes through your computer at any time, not even for card not present transactions (where a card number is manually entered).
I am using Intuit gift cards, can I continue to use them?
Yes. We have an integrated gift card program that will allow you to continue using your existing gift cards, even if they have a balance.
How do I order new gift cards with Payment Collect?
We can issue new gift cards in multiples of 250. We require a high resolution image of the front of the card.
Can Payment Collect gift cards be shared amongst multiple locations?
Yes. Payment Collect supports linking your gift card program among multiple locations.
Does Payment Collect work on Apple computers?
Payment Collect software works on Windows QuickBooks editions but, many users that have Apple computers also run Windows concurrently in them it by using Parallels or VMWare Fusion.
What are the current support hours?
Our support hours are Monday-Friday from 9AM to 5PM EST. While many businesses are open past our business hours and weekends, support is seldom required. Should you need urgent help during those hours, you can send us an email or call our support line and we will do our best to accommodate you but it’s not guaranteed.
If your business requires redundancy, we recommend getting a stand alone payment terminal from your merchant provider in case of emergency.
I have a cable modem with a single external IP. Will it work?
That depends. Cable modems don’t provide NAT. What that means is that the IP provided to your computer is the same as the external one. Most providers only give you a single external IP unless you make special arrangements. If you only have a single IP address, you will not be able to use it with your terminal at this time as it can not be shared with the computer. We are currently finalizing an extremely complex piece of software that will work around this limitation.
I have Ingenico terminals, can I use them?
Not at this time. We have been working extensively with Ingenico to be able to support their IPP terminal series.
